2.11 understand the difference between hydrogen chloride gas and hydrochloric acid

  • Hydrogen Chloride gas = HCl
  • Hydrochloric acid = Hydrogen chloride gas dissolved in water
  • This is because the 2 ions become detached leaving Cl- and H+ ions and H+ is acidic (presence of hydrogen makes a substance acidic)
