1.5 understand the terms atom and molecule

Atom – made up of smaller, sub atomic particles called protons, neutrons and electrons

Molecule – 2 or more atoms bonded together covalently, however the nobel gasses (as they have full outer shells) exist as atoms as room temperature – so for them, the term atom and molecule are the same (atoms like these are called monatomic molecules)
