Vaccination – when a harmless or inert form of a pathogen is injected into the body, it stimulates a response without putting the body at risk. This is also known as artificial immunity.

When a lymphocyte divides, it creates memory cells, if the same pathogen enters the bloodstream again, the memory cells will produce the appropriate antibodies, faster, quicker and more efficiently.
