2.58 understand the role of plasma in the transport of carbon dioxide, digested food, urea, hormones and heat energy

  • As it is made up of mostly water, it’s a good solvent, therefore it carries all the digested food molecules such as glucose and amino acids to cells that require them
  • Plasma transports urea to the kidney
  • Carbon dioxide is soluble in water, plasma transports this as well
  • Plasma is responsible for transporting hormones to target organs
  • Plasma transports heat energy in the places required
