4.8 describe experiments to prepare insoluble salts using precipitation reactions

Key term: Precipitate reaction – where and insoluble and soluble salt are made from two soluble salts

  1. Fill half a boiling tube with soluble salt solution
  2. Add the other soluble salt solution
  3. Filter the insoluble precipitate solid from the soluble filtrate liquid
  4. Wash the solid from the filter paper with distilled water to clear impurities
  5. Allow crystals to dry in a warm place
  • Soluble salt + soluble salt –> soluble salt + Insoluble salt
