  • Melting, subliming and evaporation are all process that gain kinetic energy
  • This allows the particles to overcome the forces of attraction
  • Usually, heat ads the quickening movement of vibrating particles


  • Freezing, deposing and condensing are process which lose kinetic energy
  • The particles vibrate less which allows the forces of attraction to clamp the particles together
  • They are able to hold a regular pattern
