3.19 describe an experiment to determine the refractive index of glass, using a glass block

  1. Shine a ray of light through a glass box using a light box
  2. Measure the angle of incidence and angle of refraction each time using a precise protractor for accuracy. Change the angle of incidence at 10° intervals, from 10°-100°
  3. You must repeat 3 times or more for varied results but also validity
  4. Use the equation r = sin I / sin R for the refractive index, you can graph the results
  5. Calculate the average to get an accurate value for the refractive index, ignoring anomalies.
