2.32 describe an experiment to investigate the energy content in a food sample

This is a paper 2, separate science fact

  1. Pour water into a boiling tube
  2. Place tube in a clamp stand
  3. Measure and record the mass of water
  4. Measure the mass of the food sample
  5. Fix the food onto the end of a needle to set it on fire
  6. Hold the burning food sample at the base of the boiling sube
  7. When the flame goes out, measure and record the temperature of the water

Energy released from food (gram/joules) = mass of water (grams) x temperature rise (°c) x 4.2 / mass of food sample (grams)
