Order of reactivity. They get more reactive as you go down the group.

  1. Lithium
  2. Sodium
  3. Potassium
  4. (Rubidium)
  5. (Caesium)
  6. (Francium)
  • All react with increasing vigour as you go down the group
  • Hydrogen is produced as bubbles
  • They turn the water alkaline, hence the term ‘Alkaline Metals’
