2.20 identify common material which are electrical conductors or insulators, including metals and plastics

  • Conductor – a material that allows the flow of electrical current. All metals are conductors of electricity. A key metal is copper, which can carry a very good electrical current.
  • Insulator – a material that restricts the flow of electrical current. All non metals are insulants, excluding graphite due to its unique structure of carbon. A key plastic is polyvinyl chloride, better known as PVC.
