1.29 Associate elastic behaviour with the ability of a material to recover to it’s original shape

Elastic deformation –

When forces that cause the deformation of an object are removed, the object can return to it’s original shape

eg. catapults and bouncing balls

Plastic deformation –

When the forces that cause the deformation are removed, the object doesn’t return back to it’s original shape

eg. plastic bags, metal rods and gum
